To cheer them up for my absence, I thought a Durian Cake would be ideal. Think about it, a layer of vanilla sponge then spreadwith Fresh Whipped Cream and Durian; this is heaven. I have made a Durian Crepe Cake before and received feedback that the Durian was not prominent enough. This time round, I made sure they were left speechless, melted by the goodness of taste.
As Durian is not in season now, I opted for Frozen Durian, which I purchased from the Asian groceries in Springvale. According to my memory, they come in 500ml boxes, containing 3-4 pieces each. You can either get the ones with seeds or the seedless ones, which cost a few dollars more.
omg............beatrice! you know durian s my fav! xx joanne
ReplyDeleteHey Joanne,
ReplyDeleteYes I am well aware of your love for Durian. I remember you telling us about one occassion where your Grandma had bought Durian home, insisting that you should leave some for your Dad. In the end, she ate it herself :)
Once Durian Season arrives, I shall make a Durian Cake. In the meantime, I'll probably stick to making Green Tea cakes and fruit cakes :)
