Walnut Biscuits

I thought it would be nice to make some biscuits for a close friend since we were meeting up tomorrow. Given that she's from Hong Kong Walnut Biscuits suited the occasion perfectly.

I've taken a box and layered the inside with foil before placing the biscuits inside. Definitely recommend everyone to make gifts rather than purchase them~

Here's the recipe, and enjoy~

Ingredients
50g Butter
35g Canola Oil
6-7 tbsp Brown Sugar
Pinch of Salt
¼ tsp Vanilla Essence

2-3 tbsp lightly beaten Egg (leave some for egg wash)
¼ tsp Baking Soda

1 cup Plain Flour
¼ tsp Baking Powder

Walnut pieces

Method

Preheat the oven to 180 C. Prepare a baking tray and cover with baking paper.

Cream butter, oil, sugar, salt and vanilla essence until light and fluffy. Add in lightly beaten egg and baking soda.

Fold in sifted flour and baking powder and mix well. (A soft dough should form at this point)

Divide the dough into bite size portions. Place on the prepared baking tray and apply the egg wash. Top with walnut pieces.

Bake for 10-15 mins or until lightly browned.
